Through woodcut and lino printing, participants explored their personal imagination and relationships with nature, land, and cultural memory. Each print reflects an individual response to the conversations, experiences, and creative exchange that unfolded during the workshop.

Held in Nibutani, Hokkaido, Japan, on November 29, 2025, the workshop was led by Hanga artist Julian Laffan from Australia, together with Ainu artist and scholar Kanako Uzawa. The workshop was part of a year-long project organized by AinuToday, directed by Kanako Uzawa, in collaboration with the Citizens’ Diplomatic Center in Tokyo and the International Work Group for Indigenous Affairs (IWGIA) in Denmark, with funding from the European Union.

Through dialogue, learning, and free creative expression, participants explored their own ideas while connecting with one another, the land, and cultural knowledge. The resulting prints are intimate and distinctive reflections of these encounters.

This exhibition brings together the works created during the workshop, offering a glimpse into the warmth, imagination, and vitality that emerged through this shared creative process. Together, the works show how art can create connections across generations, cultures, and landscapes.
